I don’t know about you but I’m always looking for new ways to use something that I already have. It kind of gives me ultimate satisfaction to think that I’m getting the biggest bang out of my crafting buck, by being able to make many uses out of something. That being said Tuesdays are now the home of “Tip Time Tuesday”. We have issued our Design Team members the challenge of coming up with fun-but different ways of using the Designer Templates. Design Team member Melissa Dehne is first in the line up, showcasing once again, what can be done with the gorgeous new lines from our friends at Authentique.

Hello! I am so thrilled to have the opportunity to share two layouts that I’ve created recently for my very first Design Team blog post! I am not only excited about that fact but I also had the opportunity to work with the incredible papers from Authentique. I’ve been known to tell strangers in the scrapbook store how wonderful their paper is and the fact that it’s all made in the USA makes me happy as well!
For my first layout, I used the gorgeous Authentique collection called “Lovely”. It is just full of different patterns and the embellishments were plentiful! I wanted to create a layout of my grandparents who have 64 years of marriage under their belts. I can only hope to be as lucky someday!
I got the idea of creating an arrow by looking at the Tag Templates and seeing the general arrow shape.
To make the arrow, I used Tag 1 and Tag 3 and trimmed them down to make them the shape I needed. Tag 3 is *perfect* for creating chevrons to layer on the arrow.
After creating the general arrow shape, I cut a couple more chevrons for the arrow and layered them on the original. Just to give you a reference point, the entire red/white patterned paper in the photo below is made from Tag 1!
I added a few embellishments that were included with the collection as well as some from my own personal supplies and was able to create some nice layers to give a little extra something to the layout.

Using the “Winter” collecton from Authentique proved to be just as much fun! What beautiful patterns and the texture—I don’t know if I even have words! It is divine! Since we’ve recently had a big snowfall, I knew that the six foot snowman in the backyard would be a perfect photo for these winter papers!
I love how the Paisley Place Templates on this layout remind me of either melting snow or blowing wind! I am still deciding! :) The snowflake from the Winter Templates was an absolute must considering the topic!
I’ve seen a lot of tags and tabs in scrapbooking and I thought that a tab would be a nice add-on to my layout so I used the Tag 4 Template to create one! I also knew that I wanted a little journaling spot so I created both with one tag.
To start with, I traced the tag onto the backside of the paper I was going to use (I trace to the back just so that I don’t have any pencil marks and have the need to dig out my eraser from my messy craft table)! Once I traced it, I flipped the Tag over and traced it again so that it had two “ends” as in the photo above.
Then I simply cut off the top of one “end”.
I was then able to get the journaling space in the lower left of the layout as well as a tab to place at the top of my photo!
Thank you for taking a look at my projects today! I hope that I’ve been able to inspire you in even the slightest way. And, thank you to Kiwi Lane for letting me be a part of their design team. I couldn’t be more excited!
