Christina Steel“A full layout that I LOVE!”

Let me just assure everyone that I really DO like making cards… just not as much as I like making layouts! So when I see super-cute paper made for cards, I find myself in a bit of a dilemma…I don’t have an immediate use for it, so do I give the cute paper away? But, I don’t want to give it away!

This is generally when my creative brain starts scheming… If I SCRAPBOOK with the cute paper I get to KEEP the cute paper! And that is exactly what I did!

I took these two sheets from my Hello Darling Kwik-Card Kit…

And turned them into this super-fun 2-Page Scrapbooking Layout!

Let me show you how I did it!

Right away, I knew I wanted to use the colorful flower sections for my focal accents, so I pulled out my Wildflower and Tiny Wildflower Accessory Sets and squeezed as many into each section of that pattern as I could.

I did have to cut on the inside of the lines a couple times, but this just gave me a few new flower sizes to play with :)

I like to have at least one full 12 inch border on my layouts, so I figured out where to pull that from next. I found a spot that fit my Paisley 3A and 3B almost perfectly.

I also really like pairing 12 inch borders with their mini, 8 inch counterparts, so I found a place to cut out 4 borders from my Mini Paisley Place set. As you can see, 4 of these wouldn’t have been a natural fit, so I simply trimmed off a bit of each straight edge, creating four narrower borders that were still adorable!

Then I simply flipped two of them over to pull in the blue from the other side. Hooray for double sided paper!

At this point I was left with some pretty oddly-shaped and oddly-sized sections, so I just got out every circle template I had and went crazy!

Finally, I took all of these fun pieces and played with my design by moving them around on some plain black paper from my stash, until I found a design that I was happy with.

Ta-da! A full layout that I LOVE using paper meant for cards!!!

Very cute layout! Love that you used just a plain background as all the other elements really pop! Thanks for the idea on how to use smaller papers (like the card kit) for a 12×12. I can see using scraps in the same way!
